The Photographers

Hanna Komarnicka née Dobrzańska, was born in Kraków, Poland. She grew up in Austria and later moved to London. She graduated from the Innsbruck Art College and studied at the Music Academy. She worked as a designer in Austria and in London and has exhibited her paintings and photographs in Britain, Austria and Switzerland.

Juliusz Komarnicki was born in Berne, Switzerland, son of Polish diplomat Tytus Komarnicki and in 1945 came to England, where he met his lifelong friend Iwo Załuski at Ampleforth College in Yorkshire, where they were both pupils. After studying at London University, Juliusz pursued a career in publishing and in production of books.

The Komarnickis have lived in Lugano, Switzerland since 1971.They produced their first collaboration with the Załuskis, “In Search of Chopin’s Poland” in 1999. Their new book is the result of Hanna’s photographic skills and Juliusz’s publishing acumen.
