The Authors

Iwo Załuski, great-great-great grandson of composer Prince Michał Kleofas Ogiński, was born in Kraków, and came to Great Britain as a refugee in 1946, and pursued a career as music teacher. Since 1989 he has concentrated on writing and musical research.

London-born Pamela Załuski, née Woodhead, was an accomplished pianist and historian. She chose a career in Education, and became head teacher after 4 years. She died in 2003, leaving the text of this chronicle unfinished.

The Załuskis, who both worked at the same North London School, married in 1982. In 1989 they gave up teaching to concentrate on musical research and writing. Their partnership resulted in 10 music books and biographies, including of Mozart and Liszt as well as Chopin.
